Free ATS resume checker (India)

Short answer

Paste your resume (or upload the PDF) and the job description, and get an ATS match score out of 100 in seconds. It shows which of the job's keywords you have and which are missing, checks your sections, length and layout, and suggests five fixes and a better summary line. Free, nothing saved.

One free check without an account. We don't save your resume or the job description: they're used for this check and discarded.

How it works

  1. Paste your resume or upload the PDF

Use the same file you send to companies. If the PDF upload finds no text, ATS software can't read it either: export a text PDF from Word or Google Docs.

  2. Paste the job description

The whole post: responsibilities, required skills and qualifications. The score is for this one job.

  3. Read the score

Keywords from the job description count for 60 points; contact details, education, experience or projects, a skills section, length, a plain layout and dates count for 40. The same text always gets the same score.

  4. Fix the gaps that are true for you

Add missing skills only if you have them, use the job's exact words, and paste the suggested summary line at the top. Then check again.

Once your resume passes, reach the people hiring: use the free cover letter generator or the cold email generator, and see who is hiring this week.

Frequently asked questions

What is an ATS resume checker?

Most companies in India use an applicant tracking system (ATS) to collect and filter resumes. This checker compares your resume with a job description the way an ATS does: does it contain the job's keywords, and can its sections be read? It gives you a score out of 100 and tells you what to fix.

How is the ATS score calculated?

Without AI, so it's consistent: 60 points for how many of the job description's skills and keywords appear in your resume, and 40 points for basics: contact details, an education section, experience or projects, a skills section, 1–2 page length, no tables or images, and dates. AI only writes the explanation and the fixes.

Is it free? Do I need to sign up?

Your first check is free with no sign-up. After that, a free NextKnock account gives you more checks every month, and it can tailor your resume and email the HR for you.

Do you save my resume?

No. Your resume and the job description are used for the check and then discarded. We only keep anonymous counts to stop abuse, including a one-way hash of your IP address for up to 30 days.

What is a good ATS score?

75 or more is a strong match for that job. 50 to 74 is fair: add the missing keywords that are true for you. Below 50, the role may not fit yet, or your resume needs clearer sections and skills.

Can ATS read my PDF resume?

Text-based PDFs, yes. Scanned PDFs, photos and resumes built from tables or text boxes often come out empty or jumbled. If our upload can't read your PDF, an ATS probably can't either.
